"I'm Cursed"

In anticipation of the release of CURSED, I have a big contest planned for you guys. Because CURSED is kind of a big deal for me.

Why?

Well, I wrote CURSED in-between Half-Blood and Pure, so this little baby has been percolating since roughly 2008/2009. A lot of you have had Cursed added to your To-Read shelves since late Spring of 2011. Some who have been members of Query Tracker might even remember the query for Cursed (titled Gifted at the time), so this has been a work of love for several, several years.
It's also a big deal for me because it's my first hardcover release.

So I needed something big to giveaway. Something I haven't given away yet. And no, not my firstborn child, although I don't plan on having any of them to give away, but if I did, I may save that for something else.
*Hopes possible future child does not see this*
Anyway, so here's the contest. Pay close attention to the rules.

"I'm Cursed Contest"

1. You must comment on THIS blog post answering this question: How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?
You must answer this question on this post. Not Goodreads. Email. Or what not.

2 You must tweet #ImCursed and the link to that tweet must be included in your comment. If you don't have Twitter, you can do a status on Facebook. Include that link.

3.  You must update Twitter or Facebook avatar to the Cursed Cover during length of contest.

That's it!

Now for the prize?

  1. Well, realistically i would probably pull a Rogue from x-men and just constantly wear gloves. But that isn't the same. Maybe develop a certain type of material from chemical compounds unknown, that is so thin that it has to be applied by a specialist and allows me to touch whomever I want and not actually have skin to skin contact. And meanwhile allowing me to have closer contact than gloves and allowing me to feel the person. Sorry for the really vague idea. :]

  2. Q. How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?
    A. I'd use a stick! A really long stick! ;)

  3. Well, the easy answer is clothing, but nobody likes easy. So I'm thinking something along the lines of what the faeries use in the Sookie Stackhouse novels. Super light coating that looks like actual skin but still allows you to feel. Or maybe saran wrap, although that would be a lot of plastic and in the heat it might shrink and then you would have the whole "saran wrapped car" situation going on . So you could always go with a crazy amount of lotion to create a barrier, that way you smell good and don't kill people with your touch =]

    Awesome giveaway! You rock!

  4. So your book went from Gifted to Cursed? Well that sounds like a run of bad luck :)

Great giveaway. I might comeback to enter, but I wanted to say congrats on the hardcover release. That's awesome!

  5. Well... the first thing that comes in mind would be clothing, like Rogue from X-Men. But the first comment-er commented that. I have to say, I'd have to withstand on not touching the person I love no matter how hard it ache and I'll take the next best thing to touching him--which is by looking. Or I'd create an invisible barrier(very thin barrier) like Damen in The Immortal series by Alyson Noel :P

  6. How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?

Mmm. There are many possibilities... or not...:)
You could wrap yourselve in plastic or other way around.. like wrap the boy in plastic ..but you will not get ''the'' touch. Or you can do the dreaming thing where you meet each other in a dream and because it's a dream and in my POV not reality it won't kill the other person! Or just be satisfied by poking your true love with a twig/pen/pencil/eraser *LOL*!

  7. Probably I would do as Rogue (by the way my favourite x-men ever)so I would go for the gloves and all...even if currently she has found a way to control her power so I would probably try to do the same (while wearing cool green gloves).

  9. The easy way and most logical would be to wear gloves, but for a more fun way...Ever seen the movie 40 days and 40 Nights ? The super sexy scene where Josh Hartnett didn't even touch the girl but blew that feather on her ? Wowza...there's a hot way to not touch someone. That's the way i would go ; )
Thanks for this contest, it's fantastic ! Can't wait to read this !!!

  10. If my touch was killer, the obvious answer would have to be gloves, but I would also say as something different I'd maybe wear some kind of costume with losts of padding like a teddy bear suit so i wouldn't touch him and we could cuddle!! :)

  14. How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?

You can touch someone without touching at all. Instead of a kiss you can blow softly on the neck. Words may sometimes touch someone even more than physical touch. But conventionally gloves would cover your hands just so you can have that physical contact without the aftermath of you power.

If I'm cursed and i cant touch the people i love I'll wear a gloves or mittens. but, then i always believed in talking or writing, just saying that you love and care for the person. i believe that will be enough.

  16. One person tells what to touch, the other touches that part of body on her/himself.
I heard of a new invention called the "plastic face", which must be connected to a computer and both of the partners have to have one,and when for example the boy kisses the face the girl's copies the exact moves the boy did and back.So they can kiss without touching each other.

  18. When I first read the question I said immediately: gloves! But it's to easy and I don't know how I would feel if someone I love would touch me with a glove even if I had a killer touch. So I tried my "secret weapon": Google :D I'm a bit disappointed that there was not one useful (or even normal) result to "killer touch suit") LOL

So this is what I came up with: I would probably use a magic balm! (If there would be such a thing as killer touch, maybe there would be a magic balm too, right?:)) This balm would absorb the killer element, but would let feel the warmth! So it would be almost like they were really touching. And of course it's possible to use it as a lip balm, so there can be kissing involved! :D

I changed my avatar of course on facebook, and posted on my status:

  21. That's a tough question. I imagine it's just not the touch of the hands but touch of the whole body that can kill, wearing gloves wouldn't help that part, so I would think if you had some really smart chem friends that could come up with some substance that could coat the entire body but still be able to feel thru this coating, however this would have to be planned out ahead of time and what fun is that, right? Unless it is something that can be worn all the time. I'm going to think some more on this, and come back!!

    BUT!

Hmm...that is a tough one. Because what if it didn't work? You would have to test it on someone or something first, right?

My first experiment would be a swimming pool full of pudding. Because even if the test didn't work, you still have pudding.

  32. Well....the most logical answer would be to wear something in your hands....yep gloves, mittens or whatever, something to cover it up. It would be hard avoiding to touch someone i love since personally I'm a "touchy" person. So though it's the common answer....gloves it is. =)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Q. How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?
A: That is a tough question to answer. Truthfully if I had the power to kill the person I loved, I would not touch them at all. I wouldn't be able to risk killing them. But if I was trying to find a solution, I would try making a suit of thin fabric so that I would still be able to experience some sort of touch. Science can do a lot of wild things so I'm sure it wouldn't be all that difficult to make a suit that could prevent me from killing the person I love, but still being able to experience a form of intimate touch.

link : https://twitter.com/YA_books2012 tweeted and avatar changed.

    thank you :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. That's a good question. Hmmm.....my first thought would be a covering over my skin, something like clothing or I don't know mud *wink*, but what's the point of the touch if you can't feel it?? So, what I would do is, I would go to a Druid in the highlands of Scotland, and asked to be spelled. This spell would allow me the ability to pick one and only one person (person I love), on which my "killing touch" has no affect. I would be able to touch the person I love for the rest of my life.....and my skin wouldn't be covered so I would feel it too! :D

Awesome Giveaway! And LOVE the question! Really brings out the imagination..LOL ;p

  36. Life sure would be trying if you could not touch the person you love.. But my other take on this subject is that if you love them that much, this should not be an obstacle because there is always a way and love conquers all, right?
Kudos to those before me, I must agree with their methods but here is my original idea:
*If everything is possible (it must be considering I cannot touch the person I love) I would devise a machine that would allow my.. essence(?) or soul or however you would describe your "being" and transfer it into another body-> kinda like The Host by Stephenie Meyer how you are still essentially yourself, you simply look different, because if he really is my true love, he wouldn't care if I looked different, he would care if I am still me.
Or there is always the option of giving him the "cursed disease" that I have, I mean if we both have it then we are immune to each others touch.. I hope.
So, if all the remedies and crazy ideas don't work I would simply enjoy being with the person I love, knowing he is alive and well and with me is better than a long distance relationship or death.
On a happy note, thank you for the giveaway!

  40. 1)How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?

First let me tell you that I really appreciated Obsidian, which I find brilliant!

Second the contest is awesome and I'm sure I have a chance to win one in a million ... but I am a very pessimistic person, so even that chance can not be given by me.

Third and finally I could do an essay about this nice question that it is very good.

The book “ Shatter Me” where we meet Juliette with her lethal touch it’s a very good exemple to start.

It is very difficult to know that you can not touch your beloved persons, that you can not receive a worm hugh from your mother. The sense of libetrtate that gives your father when he raise above his head and gives you the feeling that you can do anything, because you are the most important and nobody will ever managed to touch you there!

I personally would suffer greatly if I have to face such a power. I would't like not to nest in my mother's arms when
I cry, or hug my best friend, to give her the courage to go on when she sense that she failed. I love a lot hugs and if my touch kills, it would be a disaster for me!

Frankly I do not see a way, even if I would wear gloves and equipment that covers my body, entirely, my face would still be exposed. I will also hurt the one that I love if he tries to kiss me. I could never keep my head on his bare chest, or to caress his beautiful features that made me fall in love with him. I could not feel his hands exploring my body, his sweet lips leaving trails of indomitable fire on my body. There would be no way, not even one ...

But it might be something ... that is called HOPE! I hope, one day will be found a cure, hoping that one day I'll wake up normal and all the hell I went through was worth it. Perhaps, scientists could find a way to cure me, or maybe they will close me like an animal, or simply meet someone who is willing to help me control my deadly power!

A hope that will die with me!

At least I'll die trying! Worth fighting for what you want, count to you until the last minute, that something might change, because if you don't, nobody will hope for you, except those who truly love you.

In such situations, you find out who are your truly friends and enemies.

In conclusion I would not find a way there is not there, I will build one to reach the man that I love! To touch him one way or other. I will find the cure!!!

But the truth is that the only cure that exist, is in you heart...and it's the true love. That special connection between two soul mates.

Ugh, that's a tough one! It. Would. Suck...big time.

Oh well, first of all, I would try to stay away from just about anyone who has a penchant for showing emotions through physical contact and to generally avoid any humans(or furless animals)...which unfortunately also includes...family.

Not cool but I guess I could live with that. Or, better said, I would have to. Besides there would be a teeny bit of leverage in having an instant-kill touch; you know, the whole chasing people away also works for enemies. You could also call it one of the coolest superpowers ever. Far more effective than Rogue's.

Now, if we're talking about a boy I like first thought: stay as far away from him as possible! But then, if we were real soulmates, one another's only true love, we could not give each other up and we would try to get over this *cough* little *cough* impediment.

Plan A: Of course, Daemon pokes would not be enough, not for our whole lives at least *blush*. Any thin layer of plastic, latex or whatever translucent material I could use would be too risky since there's a chance it could tear and that wouldn't be very pretty.
I obviously don't do full body-coverage clothing during any season except winter and/or maybe autumn SO what I'll actually do is move to somewhere like the North Pole, maybe even to Santa's Lapland, together with my love. That way we can get get as heated as possible...by cuddling! And the like *wink*.
Even though I really love summer, the prospect of ever enjoying it would already be out of the question. That, considering an uncladded skin to me would be like the wick of a bomb waiting to be lit(or like full Christmass-tree-mode Katy:D). Utter disaster. Even walking into a store I should be carefull not touch or get touched by someone(or bumped into) inadvertently or not. And no biggie but, people might drop dead near me. It would mean being under constant alert all the time and that is no little burden.

That is, of course, if we use normal accomplishable methods, as normal as that can be. Even so, kissing won't be possible so if there were other ways I would gladly try them.

Plan B: With the progressing technology, maybe we can get in a shared dream state where we could do anything for a few hours or so, like in Inception. Maybe we can even reach level Limbo. Astral projection could be similar.

      Delete
    2. I would also search an answer within the occult. I would do virtually whatever was needed to find a cure or a crack in the curse.
Another way that would allow skin to skin contact would be if he was immortal like in Alyson Noel's novels. He wouldn't die unless his chakra is affected so maybe we should get to work to create our own elixir.

  44. Well, if my touch could kill, I wouldn't even be near the people I loved. If you really cared for their safety, you'll be able to let them go. Social isolation would be my best choice despite the loneliness but hey, I'll live in a small house and read JLA's books all day.Besides, it's not worth endangering others! That probably didn't answer your question but that's what I would do. But if that isn't possible, I'd wear a full body suit with thin fabric and hope for the best. :)

  45. Well, if my touch could kill, I wouldn’t touch physically the person I love. Instead, I would touch his heart with words: Telling him that I love him more than anything that I could ever imagine, that there is nothing in the world that I would want more than to touch him. And if that person loves me enough, he would understand it. And together we would get through this. It’s an impossible love, the most powerful of all.

How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed? That would be so hard!! It would almost just be safer to stay away from everyone..but eventually accidents would happen. I would wear gloves, jacket, jeans, boots, scarf, hat, the whole shebang! But that would only really work in winter..hmm. And if you were trying to be close to the one you loved-SARAN WRAP! Cover your hands and arms in the stuff and then you could sorta kinda touch the person. In a very strange way!! But hey, love conquers all right?

How would I find a way to touch a person I loved if my touch killed? Well if I can't touch them physically I would touch them with my words and actions. What I mean by this, is that I would put a lot of depth to the words I spoke. I might quote a few poetry lines that explains what I am feeling for them. On the other hand, I can also touch a person by the actions I do towards them. But if I had to actually find a physical way to touch them, then I guess I can we can do it like the movie Ghost lol. Just imagine that I am touching them :)! But seriously I believe that we can touch people better with our words and actions.

Well, I'd touch their heart. If I wasn't able to touch them physically, I figure that would be the next best thing. If they love you enough to stay with you even though you can't touch them, then it's meant to be :)

  52. First of all, that situation would really suck! I could not even imagine never being able to touch my boyfriend for the risk of him dying.

Good thing this sort of predicament only happens in fantasy.

If my touch could kill the man that I love, I would probably try to wear something that would act as a barrier between our skin. Maybe a glove like Rogue, from X- Men, uses. That would certainly work for hand holding and other places I would prefer to touch on my man. As for the kissing, maybe plastic wrap could be used, though that would be completely unsexy in every way possible. I may have to read others' response to this question as mine seems lamo.

On the other hand, I keep thinking of this Youtube show I watched recently, "Dating Advice from My Future Self," where the couple decides to have an emotional connection versus a physical one. I guess that could work for some. I mean, in the end, does the physical part matter if the person is madly and deeply in love?

Basically, I retort to my previous statement, this situation would suck and I can't wait to read "Cursed" to see how the main characters deal with this sort of thing.

  57. If my touch killed and I wanted to touch the person I love without killing them I would....
    1. Wear gloves. (Most obvious answer)
    2. Wear a lot of cream for my hands so that, if I touch someone, my skin wouldn't actually touching them, but the hand product would. (Although it's temporary, isn't it? Until my skin absorbs the product)
    3. Paint my hands a color (probably blue or green) so that I'll have a layer between my skin and the other person's.
    4. Wear a catsuit (like the ones spies use) under my clothes always, so I'll have a barrier all over my body, except my face, of course.

Oooor I could try out what Ever and Damen from the Evermore series did and have like a thin force field between our skin and stuff. I dunno not the most original, or possible, but I had fun :)

  63. Question: How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?

Well if I truly loved that person, I would never do anything to them that could hurt them in anyway. I would "touch" them by just being there for them when they need me. I would give them comfort and love in the looks and conversations we share. We would obviously try to look for cures but in the end, just being in each others company is enough and always will be. The fact that I can at least see them and hear their voice is enough.

Another way is to develop a serum that puts you both into the same dream. In that dream, you are together in the setting of your choosing and you are able to wake up whenever you choose. You are able to touch each other because you are not really there, only your mind is. You'll wake up besides your love, unharmed, with a great memory that was so vivid you could have sworn it was real.

Second, I've always been told that duct tape fixes everything, so I'd probably use a super secret combination of duct tape and saran wrap. Third, I would find the thinnest fabric and hire a designer to make a banging bodysuit. I could be Catwoman 24/7. Rock on!!!

People can feel when I'm near and feel me when I touch them, like a warm stirring almost, but my touch won't kill them because I'm not a physical person. I'm a floating form, so my skin is not touching them. As silly as it sounds, it would be my soul touching them, and that can't kill. It is what I would want to the truest extent. We can communicate, feel, etc etc, I just won't be in a corporal form!

  70. To be able to touch the one I love? There is nothing that beats skin to skin contact. I actually thought long and hard on this one. How can I touch the one I love without killing them yet still being able to feel their skin on mine. Magic would be my first resort. One of my three wishes if I were to find a magic lamp. Or I would wish that he is immune to my killer touch and that way I could touch him without causing his death. However if there was no magic lamp around I would resort to finding a mad scientist and having him mix chemicals together to create a wearable coating that is completely flimsy, and light and isnt noticeable that I can wear to touch him. My final thing would have to be mind control. I would have to control myself to believe that there are no barriers between us when I touch him, so that when I do it can be real and I wont feel sad that there is something there holding us from being together. So control over my mind would be my main concern

  72. I'm pretty sure that ths is not what you mean ( that you actually meant physically touch) but the first thing that came to mind was touching someone's heart. Someone I'd really want to touch would be someone I love and I would try to touch their heart if I couldn't touch their skin. I would show them how much I love them by being kind to them and loving in every other way I know, besides touch. I think it sounds cheesy but it's what I'd do.

If it comes to physically touching the other person, I would create a substance (hopefully not toxic or harmful in any way when taken in the right amount) that would allow us both to astral project ( leave our bodies) for a few hours at a time. Because we were both in the same (spirit-like) state we would be able to touch each other, since the killer touch would be part of my body's make up not my soul/spirit-thing. We would probably not be able to go too far from our bodies, but it would definitely solve the touching problem. Can you imagine? :)

  73. This is a great question! I'd probably cake so much foundation/concealer/lotion/make up stuffs on myself and put some on loverboy to be safe. Then there'd be so much makeup blocking us that it would be possible to "touch" without actually meeting real skin. The idea of smearing make up on fictional lover would probably send him running, though.

The whole kissing thing probably wouldn't work out either.

And we'd need umbrellas if it rained.

  74. Q:How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?

A:If I were in love with a man that I couldn't physically touch, I'd first think to outlandish ways to somehow come into contact with him. BUT, in reality, a simple compound could help me out. Good ole' H20!

Because when one brings science into the equation, if both me and my boo thang were submerged in water and we 'touched' each other, it wouldn't be skin to skin like when dry. There would be water molecules in the way separating us - not a lot of them - but enough for me to not accidentally cut his life short in a fit of passion. The skin's natural oils and the water would repel each other, forming a protective sheath of sorts (skin oils are non-polar and water is polar). Therefore there would technically be a barrier between him and I, even though it wouldn't feel like it.
    him|water|me

So we could be together - as long as we were under water (I guess there would have to be air breaks :P).

But of course, touching each other is only a plus in a relationship, it's the mental connection that you have with your special someone that counts in the end. Who cares if someone has a super hot bod and is a great kisser if they have no sense of humor?! It's what's inside that counts :)

  78. Q. How would you find a way to touch a person you loved, if your touch killed?

    A. Well I think I'd take the non-literal approach and say in a time where technology dominates, writing a longhand love letter touches the person you love. Letters touch others in a way that nothing else can. It's from the heart and as cheesy as it sounds a part of the person is symbolically within the letter. The amount of effort that one goes through in writing a letter touches the heart of the other person as oppose to physically touching them. Writing a letter is significant in symbolically touching the person you love, thus, touching them in a way that avoids killing them.

Thanks for the competition, I'm really excited :)

A: If I were in love and I wanted to touch the person that I am in love with without my touch killing them, I would use a long stemmed RED rose..
I love romantic sappy love stories and I believe that using a red rose to touch the person you love would symbolically and emotionally show them that you love them in ways that cannot obviously be explained through words.
I would not touch them physically unless there is a kind of shield around me that I know will not harm the one I love.

  83. How would I find a way to touch a person I love if my touch killed? Well, I have three steps.

STEP ONE- When we simply want to be cuddle-buddies on the couch watching TV (or whenever we're physically near each other) I'd break out the Snuggie. Since there are so many varieties, how could he not find it sexy? (Plus, it's a SNUGGIE.) Then I'd wear some sexy gloves and footie socks (even sexier) and a mask. Perhaps a Darth Vader one, but then again, there are many varieties. Each day it would be a challenge to choose which to wear.

STEP TWO- This step is the practical one but takes time. I would devote my time (away from Snuggies) to research, research, and research.
I'd go to tech-classes, speak to tech-y people, and learn how to create a computer program that would hook up to your brain, and his (or anyone, because I might want to hug my mom), to put us in a dreamlike reality in our brains so that we can touch each other psychologically but not physically.

STEP THREE-There has to be a third step, because in a technological dreamlike reality, someone could hack it and we don't want them prying in on private moments... ahem.

I'd go to psychics, witches, priests, and whatnot to try to connect with my soul and find a way to be uncursed... Hopefully there would be some sort of token (i.e. amulet, ring...) or spell that would either 1. immediately work or 2. I'd have to go on a journey to uncurse myself
(with my faithful snuggies on hand)

  85. I thought about this a lot.

When I first met my soul mate we were both seeing other people. At the time we were both in love with those people, connected and committed, but our attraction to each other was undeniable. And I don’t mean physical attraction (though there was certainly plenty of that), I mean that undeniable strike of lightening that happens in your heart when your soul recognizes a perfect match. We worked together, and so spent a lot of time collaborating and getting to know each other.

Every day it became more and more clear to both of us that we were meant to be together… but, we were also attached in long-term relationships with people we respected and cared for. I don’t think either of us knew what to do. We certainly knew what we wanted to do (leap into each other’s arms and kiss passionately, obviously), but our hands seemed to be tied. Knowing that your actions will unequivocally hurt someone you care for can make you stop and think hard about the right choice. Still, we were in a painful purgatory-on-earth where the one thing we wanted most was just out of reach.

When I think of not being able to touch someone physically I think of this point in our lives. It was something we both wanted badly (“O that I were a glove upon that hand, That I might touch that cheek), but couldn’t follow through. When the heart and soul want something badly enough, though, they always find a way. An intimate touch became a furtive glance. An embrace became a longing gaze. We learned before we could touch that the eyes and the mind have a power all their own and can be just as thrilling, just as satisfying, just as warm (and shiver-inducing) as skin and skin sliding against each other. In the end we made some difficult choices (“The course of true love never did run smooth”), but we rewarded by finally being able to be together. To this day, though, we are more likely to say I love you with our eyes than with a kiss or a touch, and somehow it’s just as beautiful.

Good question. Lots of people are putting stuff like "Latex" or "Gloves" but when you actually think about it. Would you actually do that? I know I wouldn't. So heres my answer.
I would try to find a way to harness that curse/gift-what ever way you want to put it-and I would control it around my love. But if that curse could not be controlled then I would let my love go. I could not ask it of them to stay with me. I would want them to love someone they could actually touch. I would always treasure their love. Because they found a way to love me, curse and all. And I would never forget that. It would be the greatest gift anyone could ever give me. Even for only a minute.

  92. Q. How would you find a way to touch the person you loved if your touch killed?

    A. Ok, try and keep your mind open for this. Alright.

I would first try and do lots of sport of stuff, get all athletic and stuff. Then I would become an assassin, a very exclusive one and a very good one. Then I would enquire everywhere I could about anyone who could give me information about Lucifer. During this time, I would also be going around collecting any important magical artefacts I could find, or that was in the possession of the people I had assassinated. After that, I would try and kill someone from Lucifer's court. Like a demon or whatever the hell his subjects are. This would accomplish the task of getting Lucifer's attention. After this, I would try to keep his attention by being all mysterious and stuff, and using the artefacts to try and make myself seem more important and interesting than I am. Then, I would try and entice him with some artefact that I know he wants because of all the enquiring around I did before coming to his attention. Then I would try and find an Angel of Death through Lucifer, asking him if he knew any and saying that if he helped me I would give him the artefact that he wanted. When I found one and met with him, I would convince him that he needed to be at a specific place at a specific time. To collect a soul. He would agree after some cajoling and I would jump up and hug him and my touch would do nothing to him because in the world I'm talking about, Angels of Death are already dead. After this, I would head to be with the guy I love. I would smile at him and tell him I love him. He would smile back and tell me he loved me too. I would put on gloves and stroke his hand, because my face is made of skin as well and if he touched me there, it would probably kill him, so we couldn't hug or anything, the risk was too great. Then we could go to bed and to sleep. The next day the Angel of Death would come and sit in the living room and I would take the guy I love down there too. When we get there I would push him down onto the couch, jump on him...and kiss him. It is a very long passionate kiss and when we go up for air, I notice he is dying. A little trickle of panic worms its way into my heart and I wonder if all of this was for nothing, the assassin thing, the Lucifer thing, everything, all my plans, what if they don't work?

So. There’s my answer. I hope it’s what I was supposed to do and I hope it was creative.

He say's no, but then I show him an artefact that he wants and after much negotiation and blackmail on my part, he agrees. The world fades around us and I see the guy I love just standing there, all adorably confused. The Angel of Death stands back as we hug and tell eachother goodbye, and I can touch him now because he is dead. Then the Angel of Death asks for the artefact and I throw it as far as I can, away from the gate. The second he turns away from us to go get the artefact, I whisper Lucifer and he pops up in front of us.

  95. This is part 3 of my answer it goes just after the 'so whatever.' bit.

. He then holds his hand out for the artefact and I drop it in his hand. I then sit and explain everything to the guy I love. This land is a place in hell for the people in the world who have done bad things and must be punished, but they can't be killed because their death may have bad effects on the world so they are stuck in a land where time is frozen so they don't age and therefore don't die. Because it's in Hell, Angel's, even Angels of Death, have no authority in this place and so the Angel of Death I tricked can't come and get the love of my life's soul to take through the gate and wherever they go after that. And so he is stuck as a dead soul and we can touch each other all we want. He is solid and see able in Hell because it's hell, after all and demons here may want to torture people, and souls last longer than flesh, so souls are solid in hell. Now, we can touch each other all we want and live happily ever after in a prison for people who should be killed, but can’t be killed because it’s dangerous to the world.

  97. Easy. I would pray to Dionysus, begging to be delivered from my curse so I could be with my loved ones. Dionysus, hearing of my terrible plight, would consent; he would then tell me to wash in the river Pactolus. And no longer would I be cursed, but cured and touch whoever I wanted :)

  98. Well. A touch can be described as anything. It doesn't have to be a physical touch, just emotional. Plus, I could always wear, gloves or a body suit made of really thin material. And there aren't any really UNIQUE cases, I mean something must have happened to make mu touch lethal, ergo there has to be a cure. AND there are always exceptions, people who are immune to the touch.

  100. Gasp! :o So you say I can't touch the person I love? But like the awesome-person-whom-I-cannot-remember-their-name said, "If there's a way in, there's a way out."

And it all comes down to this: How much do I really love the person?

You see how there's a system for rating books on Goodreads, Amazon, etc.? Well, I have a system for rating people as well. Hah. So if we're talking one star loves, I'd probably just touch them and be done with it. I'm sure I could find another one, pfft. It's not like one star anything is hard to come across, anyway. But if we're talking FIVE star loves, well, let's see, shall we?

My first attempt would probably be to go all classic and whip out the gloves, but I really can't stand the feel of them on me for whatever reason. o_o So that idea would probably be crossed out within a day. Now I'm assuming here that my lethal touch is limited only within my body? So going on that assumption, I'd probably seek out a mage or a warlock or someone magic. I'd have them - even if I have to threaten them - give me a potion thing-y in which would enable me to transfer bodies with someone else. Problem solved! ...That is just as soon as I'm able to track down a mage. -_- I'm sure the me with the powerful touch will have fun doing that. So it's either that...or I'll find a really long stick.

In answer to your question, to touch someone I love if my touch killed, I would completely wrap myself in Saran-wrap that was sprinkled with pixie dust so it never tears - I would rather not be constantly reapplying it XD - and gives it the property that it cannot be feeled, so it would be like I'm touching someone (yes, pixies are real in my world :P)

  102. If my physical touch could kill and I was in love with someone, that would royally suck... To start off with I would probably think of simple barriers like gloves and clothing to prevent actual contact. However, I think if I were really in that situation, that I would have to let that person go because eventually someone would end up making a mistake. You end up with a devastatingly broken and guilty heart, and well he ends up dead. =/ Dead loved one= No bueno... BUT, if there was a way to get rid of the 'touch of death' I would search for it then get to keep my love.

  106. In life, I've learned that a simple look at the one you love could feel as though someone has physically touched you. While a tender touch from a loved one can be reassuring and loving, I don't believe that it is the only way two people can show how they feel about one another. Simple things like an adoring look or a small smile can give your loved one the same knowledge that a touch would: that you are in love with them and when you're with them, you are your happiest. If my touch killed, I would touch them the only other way I could, by giving them a look that tells them what my touch can't. A touch can mean a thousand words, but a look can be even more strong, solidifying your love for the other person, touching their heart the same way a touch can. https://twitter.com/marchtoownbeat/status/242269772664954880

  107. I feel like I need to come up with a way that confounds everyone, leaving them scratching their heads at how it happened- not unlike INCEPTION'S dream within a dream within a dream dealio- where a person and their loved one are able to connect via their dreams. Or a parallel universe situation where one person is in the Here and the other in the There and they're able to connect perhaps in an area where the wall between the worlds is thin (hey, doesn't that like happen on Hallowe'en? ;) ).

  108. If I couldn't touch them how to touch them. Well I think love doesn't need touching, you can just look at eachother and know eachother that way. Otherwise maybe an oven mitt? I'm not sure why I keep thinking that. It reminds me of Rogue from X-Men cartoon style. Where she was always wearing those gloves. It's a hard question!

  109. I'm a comic book geek. I grew up reading X-men comics with my big brother and one character I was most drawn to was Rogue. Rogue is a sassy southerner who falls big time for a thief named Gambit (in case you're not in the x-men know). The problem is Rogue's mutant power is that she can absorb the abilities and LIFE FORCE of any person she touches. Beyond a few seconds, she could easily kill a person (and if fact put the first boy she ever kissed into a coma). So I've thought about this for more than 15 years. How would I touch the person I loved it my touch was lethal?

Many things have come to mind. Gloves and clothing are an obvious choice, but it still feels like a major barrier. Covering my hands in paraffin might be interesting as well, but its thick and cracks. When I really dwell on it, I think the best way to touch someone might be to create some kind of latex skin covering (think movie make up). Something ultra thin, but would keep my touch from being dangerous.

When I did theatre in high school we did the show Aresenic and Old Lace and we had to use latex make-up to create the "old lady" look. The latex was very thin and mimicked skin. I think it is the closest thing I could do to actually touching someone.

If that didn't work I could always dress up in skintight full body suit. :D

    Or saran wrap! Haha.

Whatever I did, though, I would have to be sure it worked. If I was cursed, I wouldn't dare risk my touch unless I knew for sure it wouldn't kill them.

  110. "How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?"

Well, I would say to wear gloves or use a prosthetic arms or something but either most people have already said to wear gloves or if you really want to be able to touch someone I would find a way. But, I would probably say to use pictures or videos to show how much you love someone. Or maybe do some testing and come up with a temperary cure that would somehow make it less lethal to the other person or come up with a sort of material which would make it easier. I can't really think of any other way that wouldn't send you to the emergency room.

Oh well, thank you for the giveaway!

  111. Okay, so what would I do to touch the person I love if my touch was lethal?

Well, the obvious answer would be gloves (but that's kinda boring, isn't it?).

So maybe I would always wear a superhero costume like Violet from The Incredibles has (y'know, the one that turns invisible, but mine would also cover the hands). So then I wouldn't actually be touching him, but it would look and almost feel as if I was.

But I would get sick of always having to wear a full body suit (and imagine the stench it would have!). So maybe, if I wanted to walk around freely, I'd drag him to a swimming pool. Then I'd get in one of those inflatable, see-through, floating hamster ball things that you see around now-a-days, and go in the pool in that. My boyfriend would then get in the pool normally, i.e. to swim. I would lie on the bottom of the ball while he swam underneath the ball so we could almost be lying next to each other. Then we could stay like that for a bit, with our hands pressed together on either side of the plastic. I think this would be slightly hilarious because I am quite possibly the least coordinated person in the world so most of the time I would look like a flailing pile of limbs, and my boyfriend would be unable to breathe so would look red/purple and bug-eyed. But, if it were to work, I think it would be quite romantic too.

But it doesn't take a genius to realise that's not the most practical solution in the world. I would obviously be looking for a cure as well, and I think you can touch someone just as easily with words, for example, a simple 'I love you' would be more than enough.

And I changed my avatar, too.

As for my answer, well, I would definitely build a time machine and go into the future where the technology exists to either touch without technically touching, or to genetically "fix" whatever chromosome mutated to give me that curse. It might take some doing, but it would be totally worth it to be able to have that physical connection to someone, not be completely isolated, with no contact whatsoever.

  114. My answer:

Alright, I've read a ton of YA novels, especially romantic ones. They always talk about how the couple can feel each other's presence. Or "feel" the electricity between them, even though they're not touching because they're waiting for marriage or for the most inconvenient moment ever to let their hormones rage.

Anyway, what I would do is become a scientist. I'm unsure of which field in science this would pertain to, but obviously that would be something I'd find out before becoming a scientist. I would try to find a way to harness and control this pseudo-electricity that occurs between two beings who are madly in love. I would use those sparks, zips and snaps of "love-electricity" to touch the person I love and have them touch me. I mean, when you think about it, that's what makes a kiss or a touch magical. The sparks you feel, the goosebumps you get, the adrenaline from this shock of new feeling that begins to pump in your veins.

Well i noticed my idea was taken and so i had to start thinking more.

On an everyday basis i think gloves and long sleeve clothing should do the job. But if were talking about more relationship touching then i have something else in mind.

If i couldn't touch the one i love because i would kill him them id be careful to begin with of course. To experience a relationship as close to normal would be a must. If i wanted to touch him id use something that would be an extension to my arm. As in a paint brush.

I would experiment with painting each others bodies. this doesn't have to even be in the sensual sense. If you dipped your hands in paint would it not leave a very thin layer over your skin, fill in all the gaps. You'd then be able to hold his hand. It may not be a long lasting solution but its something that would allow you to touch. And of course for a more sensual experience you could just paint all over each other. Itd be fun too :)

OMG Character in 4th book!! AMAZING!!! AHHH!!! lol

  120. Tough question, I try for hours to find an answer. I guess with the right clothes I could be able to touch someone. What could be the right clothes now? The only I can think are the fireman's suit or the astronaut's suit. Let's face it, that would be very tragicomic. If I can kill / destroy everything. There is big risk. A risk you will not take it for anybody and especially for someone I love.
My answer is that I will stay as far away as possible. I believe this is the only way.

  121. You ask how you would touch the person you loved if your touch killed. Well for me that’s a no brainer because if I truly loved that friend or that boyfriend and they truly loved me back then it would be like the curse was never there the touch of death never existed and I could touch the ones I love for however long I wanted. Just for that amount of time and person we would defy the rules of a curse. And replace it with love.

  124. Ooh, this is a very hard question. But the first thing that came to my mind was that I'd use an obscene amount of lotion that it would make a pretty thick layer to cover my skin! LOL! Or maybe I could have a surgery to cover my skin with a new/fake skin and had the merkel nerve endings implanted on them so the touch could register in my brain and I'd feel it. Is that even possible? But death touch is freaking impossible either. So yeah, that should do I guess. Lol! :D

Or maybe the concept of mind over matter could be use here too. Like psychosomatic? In the tv sereis Fringe, it was definied as, "Psychophysiologic effects, otherwise known as psychosomatic. The ability of the mind to cause actual physical changes in the body." or in other definitions, "of or pertaining to a physical disorder that is caused by or notably influenced by emotional factors." Although this is usually associated to fear or negative feelings (because this were the kind of emotions that are most potent) it showed still that the mind can do changes in us especially if it is influenced by a very strong and powerful emotions. Well, like love plus the great desperation to touch that someone, right? Haha! In psychosomatic, it usually inflicts physical disorders but since, I'm cursed, which is technically a disorder already maybe if the concept of pyschosomatic is used it would have the reversed effect. Instead of making your touch destructive it would be a safe thing. Whew! I don't know if I'm explaining this well. Haha! But you get my point, right? Mind is a very powerful thing and so does love (and desperation) and it can greatly influence our body. Maybe that’s why in most books I’ve read with the concept of touch of death, the love interests most of the time can touch each other. Their mind and heart tells to protect and take care for each other and so unconciously sometimes, our body does exactly that. Am I making sense? Haha!

  125. If it wasn't as simple as the thinnest most realistic feeling gloves, then there is more to it. I am not sure how the surgery route would do, for the recovery and bank the both of you may go through in the process. If I love the person we will find our ways. There are touches and caresses of the body that can elicit the same responses and bring the pleasure you seek to the one you love. When it comes to cuddling, clothing would need to be required. But as for fingers trailing down the skin, a long feather with light touches. Breath has no effect of touching, so warm breath along the neck can still be just as enticing. Sliding a rose over another, thinned gloved hangs for the grabs you cannot imitate. For the long kisses, rose across lips, or the kind of plastic wrap that Robin used when kissing Poison Ivy in Batman. There are many other wonderful alternatives or tricks to the touching without touching. For the one I love, I would discover them all, if anything you may have more fun with the more creative things. Even a blindfold that heightens the senses to the smallest touch of anything.

Beyond the physical, I would write for them, poems and stories both of love and to make love. Show them my love in all the things we do, what we say, how I write for them. We are more than just physical and it would show every day. We would love more than any pair that could love with just touch. For a true love, all is worth it.

  126. Well, I guess if I really loved them, the only answer would be to let that person go, because the risk of killing them is just too high.If an accident happened, could you imagine living with that kind of guilt ?
On the other hand, if this person is ready to accept me as I am and refuses to let me go, then I suppose we could find solutions. Of course, I would look for every cure possible, but this might take a while, so other answers would be needed...
Clothes and gloves are obvious, but still quite dangerous : a small hole in the fabric, and it's all over. Let's not even mention sarran paper or body lotion... I know I wouldn't take such a risk and I don't think anyone would.
Another -and better I think- option would be lucid dreaming and/or astral projection. It might be hard to reach, but if I'm really desperate, then I know it wouldn't stop me.
Also, you know how this year, during the Coachella music festival, they managed to create a hologram of the rapper Tupac Shakur and got him to sing a duet with Snoop Dogg ? Well, that would definitely be worth the try, in my opinion. Sure, creating a hologram probably wouldn't be a piece of cake but, hey, I have a touch that freaking kills, so it's definitely not going to stop me :)
And finally, there is the safest way possible to touch someone : touch their soul (Wow, that sounded really cheesy --'). The power of words and glances should never be underestimated, and it's probably the only real way to make someone understand what they mean to you. But I also know it would require much more patience than I will ever have, unfortunately.
So, yeah, it would definitely suck but love conquers all, right ? After all, every legendary love story is usually doomed from the start : Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde, but also Odysseus and Penelope or even Alex and Aiden !
Anyway, thank you for the awesome giveaway :)

My first suggestion comes from Pushing Daisies, which in the plastic wrap:) But obviously if you love each other you'dd like to feel their skin so my second suggestion is to find out what exactly it is about your touch that kills, does your skin take away the moisture in the other persons body, does it kill cells, or what have you, then perhaps there would be some way for your loved one to counteract it. If that isn't possible, perhaps you could find a genie and make a wish, or find a wishing tree. Of course though if you don't have either of those available to you, you could coat your self in honey. It may not feel quite the way you would like, but it would most defiantly be entertaining to the both of you;)If your aren't a a big fan of honey (and I wouldn't blame you...) you could perhaps try holding hands (or what have you...) under water. Of course you would need some way to breath or constantly come up for air, but beggars cant really be choosers. My last thought was to find a mad scientist (or any kind of scientist, but a mad one would be more fun) and have him create some kind of second skin. Those are a few ideas I had, and perhaps if this actually does happen to me I'll be able to be a little more creative:)

  130. If I had the kill of death I would start working at the Trojan condom plant. There I would get the know how and technology to make a Trojan condom suit. A little over a year ago they made the Trojan bare skin condom. You know the one where it feels like nothing is there at all? I would take that condom and expand it to make a Trojan bare skinned body suit. So it would feel like nothing is there at except there is!! Sure I would have to change the condom suit everyday, but I would still be able to touch my loved ones. Kinda like this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tuviclb3AY0, but without the genitalia, and sex part. Plus as they say at the Renaissance Fair: "Trojans! Trojans! We Will Never Break!!" So my condom body suit armor will also be safe because it will never break.

As for that question, I would find a real witch, has to be some in a world that has a curse like that, find a way to make a energy barrier, to protect, or something of that sort, or a potion that will "cover" the body for protection, or maybe a potion to drink that would temporarily suppress the curse so you can touch, if none of that is available, then a huge condom, lol, for body, lol, just joking, well, could be done, but some kind of thin gloves for basic touches, :)

  132. Oh, you & your giveaways! LOL! Love this!

LOL, when I saw this I totally thought of Pushing Daisies (loved that show) and the whole saran wrap if I wanted to kiss the one I love. I'd definitely have to do the whole cover-up thing if I wanted to touch them physically, but I'd want to build a gadget that we could wear so we could touch each other "virtually" but it would feel like the real thing, every sense is there, even during the intimate parts. As long as you trigger the right part of the brain, you'll get that same effect even if it's not actually the "real" thing.

  136. Henna. It wouldn't be an ordinary henna tattoo, of course, but one with a protection spell infused into it. The intricate design would be inked onto my loved ones' skin, and its sole purpose would be to keep them protected from my deadly touch. Since henna eventually fades over a couple of weeks, it would have to be repainted and the spell recast. It may not be a permanent fix, but as long as I get to touch my loved ones that's all that matters.

  138. If you really loved that someone, then there really wouldn't be a need to touch. I'd be ok to just love that someone from afar. But if you really had to, then using a mirror would be a good idea. That way you can just touch their reflection, though it probably won't be the same. It'd be better to break/kill the mirror then to kill the one you love.

  139. Well, the most probable answer would be wearing gloves..but What happens if he accidentally touches your arms or some other part not covered by the gloves? well the answer is obvious, he's a goner and I would be crying my eyes out with a broken heart. SO!
I thought, it would be a good idea for me to get plastic (very thin) embedded into my skin by a surgeon. Now of course, a few surgeons here or there will die, but it's not exactly like they're the person i love, plus it's for a good cause. Because then, no one else would be killed by my touch. Oh, but! There's more. Say I needed to defend myself from an attacker, well this plastic that I am getting attached to me can be easily removed, kinda like a spidey suit that spider man wears (but i don't think he's wearing a suit. I think it comes on him whenever he uses his powers. Right? ANYWAYS, it's removable). So, if i was ever in a situation where i NEEDED to kill someone, I could do it quickly and easily.

  140. Q: How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?

A: If you're touch can kill the person you love, the only way to touch them is not by physical touch. People are trying to figure out how they could be able to reach or touch the person they love by physical connection but I think it's not only the way. For me, the best connection is through the heart. Yes, you touch your loved ones but does the heart feels it sincerity? Does it warms your soul? Therefore, by showing them that you care and that you mean so much to them, you're touching their lives by making it better and happier. Your touching their hearts to beat with love. You're touching their souls to lit with affection and happiness.

  141. question: How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?
My answer: remember the Batman movie with poison ivy? How robin tricks her with barely there lip...covers?...whatevers, and she can't kill him with her kiss? Some thing like that for my fingers and mouth, because who wouldn't want to kiss the person they love? Or, this is kind if crazy, but there are certain adhesives kind of like hair spray, or spray that helps when wrapping ankles in sports, keeps the wrap on, that leave a coating, a protective barrier, I'd cover myself in a barely there covering so that my touch would still feel authentic, but my beloved would be safe.

Thanks so much for this contest!

  143. The most realistic answer would be gloves like everyone said. So for me if i couldnt touch anyone. I would probably go get some liquid latex. aha coat my arms with it. Probably when i can. But, for a everyday situation. Gloves.Wear long sleeves probably thin material so i can get a the realist feeling of touch.
If that didnt work. I would touch the heart. I would show them i cared in so many other ways. I would write them notes daily, Being there for them at their worst, listen to them. And, loving them regardless of touch. Because love goes past physical. I would try to make everyday the best in the worst situation.

  144. Excellent question, especially since touch is important not just to humans but lots of other species as well...
There's the usual stuff like wear clothing, use other objects--like a back scratcher for example, breathe/blow on them, use that spray on silicone that helps you hide your finger prints...uh..I mean...But those all include barriers and the only thing I could think of was super far out there and nerdy. So I'm just gonna let my nerd flag fly and say I keep thinking back to the Star Trek movie where the Borg give Data the "skin" so that he's able to feel touch. You know the one I'm talking about? Where they attach the skin to him and his super brain registers the sensations as feelings and for .0005 nano seconds he actually thinks about joining the Borg because it feels so good? You know, THIS scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_HSYB3EPNk ANYWAY, that's what I'd do. NO, not become Borg. Sheesh. I'd have to either become Data, get me an emotion chip and graft on some skin or become a nun. No way I could live with the fam and not touch them :)

  146. How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?

Everyone says wear gloves, do a magic spell that puts a barrier between the two people so they can touch. I think it needs to be more heartfelt, romantic. :)

If my touch killed, I would find a token - a small stuffed animal or something significant that was shared between me and the one I loved. And if something were to happen to him - like he got seriously injured or something, and they brought him back to me with the token in his pocket, I would believe that it was my love that kept him safe, not luck or chance. I would tell him to keep the token forever, because knowing that that token saved his life, would be the ultimate way of touching someone you loved even if your touch was fatal to them.

  147. How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?
The obvious answer to this question would be to wear gloves or some other sort of barrier. You could also say there are other ways to touch someone besides physically like emotionally, but neither of those things get you actual skin to skin contact. For that you need to open up your mind more.
The best thing to do would be to find a cure for the curse but you can’t just go to any doctor for that. You can go to a fairy though. Fairies are quite smart they could create an exlir that can either make him immune or to cure her. The only problem is fairies are very cunning and you need to have something they want or know their name to get them to work with you.
You can also find a vampire. Then have the vampire turn him into a vampire so he is now immune to her touch or turn her into a vampire so that her curse is gone. Now all you have to do is control your thirst.
If you don’t want to use any mythical creatures you can go about it a more scientific way. The first thing you need to do is learn how the curse works. This may be too difficult to do so start with small things. How does it kill the person? Is it only skin that causes it to happen or is saliva or blood involved?
This was an interesting question I hope I answer it uniquely enough. 

  148. First I thought duh! Gloves, or a full body latex suit. But you said creativity and my creative moment arrived and this is what came out:

There are many definitions of the word touch such as:
*To be or come into contact
*A sensation experienced in touching something with a characteristic texture
    * A suggestion, hint, or tinge
    *Excite, impress
    * Experience one thing, having intimate knowledge of it.

Here is the part where that word can take thousands of meanings if you keep looking. But what would you do when your skin Can't come into contact with the skin of someone you love, knowing that you can not give a hug when needed, a goodbye kiss or caress only because that pleases you. Is here when you can use one of those thousands of meanings. Touch not only means feeling that person's skin against yours, is that and much more. So if you have something that prevents that kind of contact, you will always have a thousand and one more ways to touch that person whom you love.

  149. When you love someone, touching is really necessary but does it worth it when that person would be dead because of your touch ? No, so I'll find many other ways to express my love, and hope that this person would understand why I can't touch him or her. And if we touched unfortunately, I'd make sure that I'd tell to that person before, and everyday, that even when the death do us part, I'd still love him or her.

  152. Well, since there's magic involved (killer touch), I'd go with something like a spell which would form a very skin-tight bubble around me, but I wouldn't be able to feel it. This way I can touch whoever I want, but the bubble will separate our skin so that I wouldn't kill anyone.
However, there are other non-tangible way of touching the person I love- by my words, my actions. If not physically, I can touch them mentally.

  154. If I couldn't touch the person I love, the simplest and the most common idea would be to wear gloves. But, it wouldn't be the same. I couldn't feel his delicate skin and hin tender balms, I couldn't give him sweet kisses, and this would ,propably, make me fight and control this "gift".
First of all, I would try to break this "curse", to remove the "power" and live a normal life like all teenagers at my age.
Secondly, I would try to find a way to control it to not to kill somebody with just one touch. Or, these days, the tehnology progresses very quickly and I would try varios experiments that would help me to get rid of this "curse". Probably, I would try to make some thin material, that would cover my body and look like a normal skin that make me feel like a normal person.
I would be ready to support all kinds of experiments, just to find a way to feel normal and be with the person I love.

Virtual reality. Plenty of games that allow you to do things that you can't do in real life. It wouldn't be the same but it would allow you to touch the person you love.

If not that, wear latex 24/7.. clings to your skin and would feel like you're actually touching the person.

  157. If my touch killed how would I touch the person I loved? I have been contemplating this question for almost a month..
Assuming besides the whole 'my touch kills thing' I am a normal teenage girl with a normal life. First thing that is going to come to my mind is gloves. But I would start out with ski gloves something thick and i would go to the pet store and buy a mouse. BC u are not going to risk killing the person you love. Lets say it worked well those gloves are really thick I actually want to be able touch him so i would then try a latex glove. If the mouse was still alive problem is solved. Considering your a relatively normal teenage girl with a normal life and average IQ ur not going to invent a new skin or find a warlock.
My really awesome idea of what would happen is that everything she tried on the mice would fail and one day they accidentally touch but nothing happens. He never knew but his touch heals while hers kills. They counteract and therefore balance eachother out.

  160. If my touched killed the person I love most I would dig deep into my creative side. Of course you can snuggle with them without touching and the warmth of the body is still felt. I would also have him sit in a dark room with his eyes closed focusing on only the sound of my voice, I would tell him all the reasons I loved him. I would be as descriptive as possible explaining to him the things I could do if we were able to be skin to skin, I would press my clothed body against him as he felt my breath on his neck as I spoke letting him "feel" me as much as possible. then I would light a candle and let the wax pool and dip my finger tips in the wax allowing it to coat my finger tips and dry against my skin and I would trace his face, run my fringer tips across the collarbones and finally would run my finger thru the wax one last time and as it cools and smooth it across his lips and place a kiss there.

  161. Hmm… If my touch could kill…

Now, I know others have said this, but my first solution would be to definitely come up with some sort of skin to cover up. It would have to be able to adjust and match my body temperature. It would also be quite thin, with a way to let my nerves be just as sensitive as they would if I did not have the extra layer. Maybe it would be completely connected, just as if it were an extra layer of skin. The layer would also have to match my real skin exactly, finger prints and all. Oh and just to finish it off, I'd make some sort of lip balm that creates a sort of shell for the lips, but with still the same texture and consistency. The face would either be covered in the protective skin, or I could make some sort of makeup that could have the same effect as the lips. I say this because an extra skin covering on the face may be quite uncomfortable...

Maybe it could be something like in Inception, where we could go into a dream-world. There, it wouldn’t be really me physically – it would just be my essence. In this way, I could touch them and not be worried about the curse. The dreams could be our escape, an alternate reality in which we could truly be together.
If I can’t physically touch someone, I would find ways to show my love through words and even song. I could sing to them, let them know how much I love them. I could tell them to close their eyes and imagine my touch. I’d show them how much I love them, doing simple things of love for them every day. I’d write down in a journal everything I felt about them, and let them read it.

However, these are only necessary until I find the cure. I feel like if I was cursed with this terrible “disease,” there must be a way to counteract it! I’d do my research and read every book out there with the same type of deal, trying to discover how to get rid of it or overpower it. Maybe there’s some kind of stone, like in the Lux series, that will keep my “power” from working. If that was the case, I’d cover the whole house with this stone. Does the curse work in water? If not I’d go to the pool or lake every day. If neither of these options works, I’d find whoever gave me the curse or find someone else with the curse to find out what worked for them. I’d find someone out there to cleanse me of this curse. I wouldn’t give up until I did.

BTW: I LOVE LOVE LOVE this giveaway! Especially 2nd place… OH. MY. WORD. Dear sweet alien babies! I’d die.

  162. I think I would try ceram/or bubble wrap. I guess thats kind of like wearing fabric still. I have a morph suit so i would try that also. That is the most obvious choice but I doubt i would be satisfied in the long run if we could only touch through fabric.

The first thing I think she would have to do here is find out what causes the reaction. It started when her sister brought her back from the dead, right? Then maybe if she were somehow brought to the brink of death and able to come back on her own this time it would cure it.( yes i got that idea from the"Last Sacrifice" by Richelle Mead.) Or another equally scary option would be to try to bring your bf to brink of death and have your sister bring him back making you and him the same. What if you got like a full body skin graph. It couldn't kill if it was not your skin. < Did i really just say that. OK time to stop, its getting morbid! Really guys I'm not a creep, Im just a sciencey booky nerd!
    ^really scary ideas..

    V Probably best idea..
Maybe its like Obsidian. Maybe she kills people with her touch because of excess energy.
When she died she didn't have any energy and her sister gave her energy to bring her back. Maybe now like a trace she just has energy that needs to be worked off in some way. I would try to work it off.

Another thought.. maybe her energy is off. It could have something to do with the electric pulses she is emitting. I would try to find some medication for that. Its a stretch but they make meds for about everything these days.

  163. How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?
Not being able to touch the person I love. Wow that would suck some major ass....Okay, so lets put this is perspective. Me (chick with major touch problems) can’t touch a person I love (lets say, oh I dunno, Daemon Black). Not being able to touch Daemon Black, A.K.A Mr.Super-hot-sex-god-who-makes-my-ovaries-explode-just-by-thinking-about-him, would drive me insane. If the world was they way I wish It was, I’d simply jet off to The Ministry of Magic, find a time turner, go back in time, get the elder wand and make myself or other people impervious to my killer touch. Or maybe head off to Narnia and ask Lucy if she has any of that bring-back-the-dead potiony thing. I could use that every time my touch killed. If she doesn’t, I could always travel back in time and steal it from her… Yes I know, stealing from a child, despicable right? But I don’t care, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to try and touch the person I loved at least once. But alas, all the time-turners were destroyed and I’m pretty sure that time-turners can only go back hours. So that brings me back to square 1.

How long does it take for my touch to kill? Is it instantaneous? If not, we could always time how long we could touch each other, and then pull away at the last minute. But that’d be risky ad I think as soon as I touched Daemon, I probably wouldn’t be able to stop ;) I’d also try to learn to control it, try and put off the killing for a couple of minutes, but that probably wouldn’t work. I’d perhaps make a suit like Black Widows in Avengers. That thing is super-skin tight and would work as a barrier (hands would also have to be covered). Plus, it’d make me feel all bad-assy :D If that doesn’t work, I’d ask some of those smarticles scientists (like Tony Stark or maybe MacGyver, he’s uber cool) to make me a suit out of graphene (thinnest material in the world). And the suit could be touch sensitive, so that whatever I felt when someone touched me with the suit on would be heightened :P If that doesn’t work, well I’d be getting pretty annoyed by then. Touching isn’t everything, but it sure as hell is nice, especially with all the impending sexual tension that would obviously be building. Phone Sex? I don’t know, I’m just throwing ideas there. If you can’t touch anyone else, why not yourself? Err…scratch that :/

Perhaps making a clone of my beau could solve the whole no touching thing. That way, I’m not killing him per se, just his clone. That would end up getting pretty creepy though, and I’d have to keep making clones what with me killing them with my touch all the time :( Gosh, this is a difficult question. There are so many options and I’d seriously try everything and anything. Honestly, if I could kill the person I loved with just one touch, I’d go to the ends of the earth to try and find a “cure” for this curse of mine. And if that doesn’t work, I think I’d die successfully from sexual frustration….

Can’t wait till my copy of Cursed arrives in the mail!!! Super excited, its gonna be AmazeBalls!!!!! Thanks for having such a tres cool giveaway! <3

  165. Question: How would you find a way to touch a person you loved if your touch killed?

Answer: Aww..That would be hard. Not being able to touch a person without killing him/her.

First thing that came to my mind:
You can touch other people not just by merely touching them physically but by using your other senses such as your eyes. The look in your eyes can mean a lot even without words and touch. Your mouth- by speaking about how and what you feel can touch people emotionally. I know those ways I've stated are not enough to replace what skin-to-skin contact can do.

So I think I should go back to the main problem and find out the reason why my touch kills people. Instead of making temporary solutions, I should find a permanent one. First, go to the doctor. New technologies are developed so I may find something to help me. Maybe there were alterations in my genes and those technologies can help me remove the bad ones. It's like having cancer and I can have therapies or anything just to make me normal again.
If advanced knowledge won't work, go back to the traditional one. Go to a witch/sorcerer or Mambabarang as called here in the Philippines and maybe they can find out if someone cursed me and they can remove that curse.

It's hard to think of other ways so that's it for me.

  166. So I've spent days wondering about this question and I came up with a couple ideas, here they are;

Latex body paint, normal bandages, plus 10 coats of spray bandage. Also a less sensible option would be PVA glue.
And a more risque option would involve "featherlites" for the fingers and some dental dams for the palms.

So, those are some of the ideas that came to me xD
Thanks for having such awesome contests, Jen! <3

  168. I'm from the future, so if wanted to touch someone I love but I couldn't because it would kill them, the obvious (and amazeballs) solution to that problem is to have a coat of synthetic skin covering the entirety of my body. (Even my nooks and crannies ;). ) AND, of course, it would have some high tech version of a nerve cell that would help me feel the person in question; the one I love. :) Did I already mention that I'm from the future?

I guess I could also have a suit made of latex, but I wouldn't be able the put it ALL over my body... I HAVE to breathe! (And I have openings like ears and stuff. Not to mention how awful someone would look covered in latex. It would look like they were wearing a giant condom. eww!) Even though I'm from the future they haven't perfected science enough to make it so that humans don't have to breathe.

Oh, or you could take skin from other people and somehow have their nerve cells hooked up to your brain, but that's a little dark and gory so I won't get too deep into that possibility. :3

In the future we have a lot of life like games, so THAT would work. Science has perfected our games and our nerves respond to the game. It's amazeballs!

Still, I think synthetic skin is the best option here, because it looks and feels real. No one would know the difference. :) Our scientists in the future have all these extraordinary stem cells that they could DEFINITELY use for this cause.

(P.S. I don't want to win the grand prize. I would only want the 2nd place or runner-up. I love the way books feel in my hands; their smell, their crisp pages. :) I'm not a huge fan of kindles and nooks.)

-Lex, a girl from the future, so this explanation would OBVIOUSLY work. ;)

  169. The gentle caress of his fingertips raised goosebumps on my stomach.

If you cannot touch someone without killing, you lose the ability to physically feel them. You can’t stroke your lover’s stomach. You can’t hold your boyfriend’s hand. You can’t wrap your arms around your littler sister and embrace her until the tears stop. Your touch is powerful, but it is also deadly.

Physical contact is held in high regard in today’s society. While a relationship has a physical aspect to it, there is also an emotional link between the two people. Being unable to touch someone does not mean that you can’t touch them – emotionally. Touch means “to come into or be in contact with” (Dictionary.com), but it also means to be “emotionally affected or moved by someone or something” (thefreedictionary.com).

If I could not touch the ones that I love physically, then I would reach out to them emotionally and mentally. I would spend time with them even more than usual, doing things that are not unusual, such as go to the movies, eat pizza together, walk in a museum, play laser tag, and so on. I would try to be around them, to make up for the lack of physical connection. Just because I can’t touch them does not that I don’t care about them – and I would never want them to feel that way. I would make even more of an effort to let them know that I love them – not by buying them over – but by spending time with them and letting them see that I care.

I love my family. I love my friends. While having the power to kill through touch would be terrifying (what if I accidently slip up and touch someone!), I would always want my loved ones to see that I will always care about and love them, even if I can’t physically show them.

Thank you for this wonderful contest :)

  170. I have decided to go the “Scientist” route ;)

Since something has obviously gone wrong within my genes, I will go looking into what makes me the person who can’t touch the person I love. I am going to do the whole blood/DNA testing processes, get the mad as evil cackle and not stop until I can touch the person I love. These processes will allow me to actually look inside myself and to help others who may be going through the same situation.

However I will not be “touching” the person I love till I am 100% sure that I won’t kill them and since I am a firm believer in NOT using animal testing I will also create an model that has similar functions to humans/animals but without it being alive-just similar reflexes, so it won’t feel any pain. This model allows me to test without hurting others, which includes the person I love. And also it will be able to tell me where I am going wrong and what types of changes need to be made in order for my experiments to work, I essentially need to change a part of myself because I don’t want to go rummaging around my love’s body, I don’t want them harmed in any way so all the experiments will be for me so if anything goes wrong I would get hurt not anyone else.

I will also be creating a device that allows the person I love to feel my touch without me actually touching them, so it basically mimics a sense of touch, only mine though so nothing can happens if it gets in the wrong hands *shifty eyes*. This device uses receptors in the brain to produce a sensation along the body to feel as though that person is being touched. Besides making one for my love, I would also make this device for my buddies Kale (Touch Series) and Ember (Cursed) =P.

Ok I am not logical or straight forward in any way so the thought of using gloves did not cross my mind until I was reading some of the other answers!

    Thanks for the amazing contest!

  171. I would create some type of suit that is so thin, flexible, and the color would be the tone of my skin color so nobody would say that I look creepy with a random body suit underneath my clothes because that is just plain weird. It would probably be made out of latex so I can look and be a huge condom. As for my face, I just wouldn't kiss anybody soon until I figure out a way of kissing someone. But it would be a god idea to put something between my face and the boy's I'm kissing like a plastic bag or a zip-lock but that would be awkward, so I won't be kissing a guy anytime soon with that curse.
