I wanted to take a few moments to talk about my YA paranormal CURSED. I've seen some people referencing it as a "new" book for me. In reality, Cursed isn't new at all. It was actually written in-between Half-Blood and Pure (2009/2010) and was contracted in Spring 2011. It has been on Goodreads since then.
People who use Query Tracker may remember seeing the actual query for this around Fall of 2010, so to some people, they have known about this novel for quite some time. At that time, it was before Shatter Me and Touch was on the shelves (I loved and blurbed Touch, by the way), so there was definitely a lot of interest in a girl with a killer touch and who's sister could bring back the dead.
Something to keep in mind about books. They take a long to conceptualize, sell and market. As you can see, sometimes years between when a book was written and when it's released. That's why you'll see a lot of the same kind of books come out all at once. A good example would be angel books releasing all at once.
So I did get some great news about Cursed. It will be in hardcover. EEP! I feel like I'm all ground up.
ARCs for Cursed will be available at BEA in June. As far as ARCs otherwise, you will need to contact Spencer Hill Press. Their website has info on how to do that.
Some people have asked what the book is like. That's a hard question. Ember is a different character who is shaped by her... er, disability. There's a lot of romance, of course and I like to think it's a little like X-Men, because you do have kids with different powers, but there's no *present* organization. It's more of a mystery than anything else. Currently it is a standalone with series potential.
Can't wait to share more about Cursed in the upcoming months.
